Studying for the CompTIA Security+ Exam

Those of you who know me personally know that I am one class away from obtaining my Masters degree in Cyber Security and recently I have been studying for the Security+ exam and I thought I would share some study tips. I will not and I do not advocate by any means of seeking out exams or other mechanisms that allow the candidate direct access the the exam. Face it, cheating will get you nowhere and you eventually will be called out to carry out your expertise and knowledge.

Update: 10/10/2012: I passed my Security+ exam and I urge anyone interested in this exam to grab the study material and make the time.

Amazon ImageFirst, be sure to pick up study material that is targeted to obtaining this certification. There are many different approaches you may take with study material which may include practice exams, audio, or even video. I personally prefer books because I can make notes and quickly find information on a given subject.

The following books are two that I purchased and I am happy with the material, but know that I have not taken my exam and I am not scheduled to do so until the first week of October.

Cheat sheets are also a wonderful mechanism in which to quickly access information. For example, take a look at the following cheat sheet.
