Personal Journey To Obtain The CISSP Certification

Amazon Image I am putting together a six month study plan for taking the (ISC)² CISSP exam and I thought I would outline resources and the study plan that I will be using.  You may be asking yourself why six months. Well I have spoke with a great number of individuals who hold this credential and the consistent feedback that I received was to study, study, and do more study.

The fact is some individuals do better than others and while I have over 15 years working in Information Technology (IT), I still feel for me it is best to prepare. That being said I am currently in the planning and preparation phase and the study plan will begin January 2013 and run thru June 2013 with the exam to occur in July 2013. There are a number of reasons for my desire to obtain CISSP and the biggest reason is to simply make a difference in the world of cyber security. The fact that cyber continues to grow at a pace never seen before demands that individuals be qualified and passionate to combat the variety of cyber threats.

If you’re just getting started in the IT field and not entirely sure what the CISSP is then take a moment to watch this Global Information Security Workforce Study video.

This post will be the first in a series and I hope that you find it beneficial should you decide to pursue the (ISC)² CISSP certification.
