Nancy Pelosi: Double Standards

Do you recall when Nancy Pelosi made the following statement about those Americans who protest and speak out at town halls?

However, it is now evident that an ugly campaign is underway not merely to misrepresent the health insurance reform legislation, but to disrupt public meetings and prevent members of Congress and constituents from conducting a civil dialogue,” the two leaders wrote. “These disruptions are occurring because opponents are afraid not just of differing views — but of the facts themselves. Drowning out opposing views is simply un-American.

I am confused. Does she really believe that anyone who speaks out to the elected officials either in a soft or loud voice is “un-American”? Well in seems that now Democratic party holds the office of The President of the United States that we Americans should bite our tongue and not voice our opinions to those individuals we have elected. What? Now, do you recall earlier when I stated I was confused? Watch the following recording from a town hall meeting years earlier that took place during George W. Bush’s term as President. At 3 minutes and 50 seconds into this town hall there are members of the audience that speak out and Nancy Pelosi at no point used the words “un-American” then. Why is this? Also check out the 4 minute and 50 second mark where the protesters line up in front of the stage where Nancy is speaking and all she does is giggle.

Now, each and every individual in this country has the right to voice an opinion. In fact Nancy Pelosi did so on Face the Nation , wow she has an opinion that that does not line up with the Bush Administration , how dare she? In truth, she has every right to this opinion much like the everyday individuals at these town halls.

In summary do not step up and call me un-American, racist, a trouble maker, or any other term that you wish to label those that do not agree with the current administration’s direction. Actually, if I did nothing and simply allowed elected officials to do what they want and when they want, it would be “un-American” not to put them into check.

On a side note why now is this Administration investigating the CIA for waterboarding when it seems a number of individuals, including Nancy Pelosi, was aware of waterboarding back in 2002? As you will see Nancy Pelosi was well aware of what was occurring so where was her morals in 2002 on this issue?
